CIC Changxing Shipyard Finishes Bulk Carrier ROBUSTO Repair Project (China)

On the afternoon of Oct. 18, 2011, the vessel “ROBUSTO” repaired by CIC Changxing Shipyard smoothly departed from the yard’s premises and made a successful conclusion of her special survey project. The vessel is a Cape size bulk carrier, with LOA 289 m and moulded breadth 45 m. Her main work scope was all nine cargo holds treatment and boiler re-tubing. “ROBUSTO” was owned by a famous shipping company in Greece, and was the second vessel after M.V. “COHIBA” from the same owners re-delivered by CIC Changxing Shipyard this year.

Basis on the previous cooperation experience, this repair for the vessel was undertaken with high proficiency. The difficulty of the rain days also occurred during her repair period. Thanks to the strong technical strength and excellent facilities, CIC Changxing Shipyard performed simultaneous operations of grit blasting for all nine cargo holds in the same time in order to recover the deferment in repair period caused by rainy days. Meanwhile, shipyard drew on the experience of tough problems met during the repair of “COHIBA”, prepared boiler tubes materials in advance with classification certification, and strived to be the best in all aspects of repair.
