CIC Lixin: the First Silicone Coating Project Completed

CIC Lixin: the First Silicone Coating Project Completed

CIC Lixin Shipyard has completed the paint job on bulk carrier MV Clipper Valour. This was the first silicone coating project for the yard.

Silicone paint is different from other conventional anti-fouling paints. Its stronger anti-fouling capability adheres poorly to the surface so as high standard of surface treatment is required.

To furnish the surface treatment, high pressure fresh water washing was started after docking and continued for 24 hours to clear all impurities and met the salt requirement. Compared with normal 10 hours sandblasting for other ships, for MV Clipper Valour sandblasting SA2.0 lasted 4 days and nights for vertical and flat bottom areas and blasting machines increased from 20 to 32 pieces.

Lixin Shipyard finished repair works on MV Clipper Valour within 18 days, which fully shows that Lixin Shipyard is equipped with high quality standard of production capacity and accumulates some experience for future silicone coating job.
