ClassNK names new president

Japan’s classification society ClassNK said on Monday that its current executive vice president Koichi Fujiwara has been appointed as chairman and president.

Fujiwara has also been named a representative director of ClassNK, all effective March 7, according to the classification society’s statement.

Fujiwara takes over from Noboru Ueda who has stepped down as representative director, chairman and president.

Current executive vice presidents Yasushi Nakamura and Tetsuya Kinoshita will continue in their present roles on the team, joined by Junichiro Iida as managing director, ClassNK said.

Current executive vice president Tetsushi Agata has been appointed as an executive auditor as ClassNK is pushing to strengthen its auditing system.
