Claxton Achieves Milestone in Centralizers Installation

Claxton, an Acteon company, has installed more than 5000 conductor guide centralizers, making the company the market leader for conductor centralizer installation in the North Sea and beyond.

Conductor centralizers form the interface between the platform jacket and well conductor, assuring vital conductor integrity. Having supplied a range of conductor and structural centralizers to major operators since 1992, Claxton has become the leading North Sea supplier. A recent major project using Claxton’s designs was the Total Martin Linge development, and Claxton is currently working on large orders for a number of other operators in the UK and Norway.

Claxton provides a broad range of designs including fixed blade, adjustable blade and a unique remotely actuated model, which can reduce or remove the need for rope access operations.

Martin Jolley, vice president sales and commercial, Claxton, said, “Claxton’s centralizer expertise is the result of thousands of successful installations across multiple designs and work scopes. We have supplied everything from relatively simple cellar deck models, through to complex remotely actuated designs and retrofits that extend the life of ageing assets.

“Centralizers may appear simple, but the forces imposed upon them at the critical interface between the well conductor and the platform can be severe. We effectively supply an operator’s frontline protection, correctly designing and installing centralizers to ensure a long fatigue life. Being recognised as the number one supplier to North Sea operators is a milestone we are proud of, and Claxton will continue to maintain its trusted position across all product lines.”

Claxton, working out of bases in the UK, Norway, Singapore and Dubai, has provided engineering across the life of field for two and a half decades with a focus on risers, decommissioning and structures.
