Clipper Bulk Takes Delivery of First I-Star Supramax Newbuildings-

Clipper Bulk took delivery of the first of a series of four sister vessels from the Shin Kasado Shipyard of Imabari Shipbulding Ltd. in Japan on June 26. The vessel, named the “Clipper I-Star” after the vessel class, is a 61,000 dwt supramax bulk carrier representing the latest development in technology and super eco fuel consumption.

“It’s important to us to maintain a modern, state-of-the-art, and efficient fleet” says Gary Vogel, Partner and CEO in Clipper Group. “Clipper has taken delivery of more than 100 newbuilding vessels over the last 10 years, so this I-Star vessel is just the latest example of that continuous renewal process.”

The next sister vessel, the Clipper Triton, will join the Clipper fleet in August. In addition to the four I-Star vessels, another seven newbuilding bulk carriers are currently scheduled for delivery, from 38,000 dwt handysize to 76,000 dwt panamax vessels.
