CNCo Orders Four Handysize Bulkers

China Navigation Company (CNCo), the deepsea shipping arm of the Swire Group, has signed contracts for four handysize vessels for delivery from Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd in Japan.

A signing ceremony held on June 7th was hosted by Mr Barnaby Swire, Chairman of CNCo, and attended by Mr Yukito Higaki, President of Imabari Shipyard, and representatives from Itochu Corporation and Swire Bulk.

Mr Andrew Kidd, General Manager Swire Bulk said, “The company recognises the importance of the Japanese shipbuilding industry and is delighted to have successfully confirmed this order with Imabari Shipbuilding Co., Ltd given the company’s reputation as a provider of handysize bulk carriers of the highest quality. ”

In the same week, Swire Bulk took delivery of its fifth Deltamarin designed B. Delta37 from Chengxi Shipyard. The company has a further 19 B. Delta37 handysize bulk carriers to be delivered within 2016.

All the newbuildings will be deployed in CNCo’s drybulk division, Swire Bulk, and will operate on a worldwide basis.
