CNOOC cleared to expand Shanghai LNG terminal’s storage capacity

Storage tank capacity expansion of CNOOC’s Shanghai LNG terminal has received approval by the Shanghai Development & Reform Commission and the Zhejiang Development & Reform Commission. 

In its statement, commenting on the received approval, CNOOC’s unit, CNOOC Gas & Power, that operates the terminal, said the project has now entered the implementation phase.

With the addition of two 200,000 cbm storage tanks and related facilities, Shanghai LNG terminal’s storage capacity is set to reach 895,000 cbm.

Currently, the 3 mtpa terminal has the capacity to store 495,000 cbm of LNG in its three 165,000 cbm storage tanks.

CNOOC Gas & Power said the expansion project aims to improve the security of supply in the region as well as tp accelerate the change in Shanghai’s energy structure and increase the use of gas.
