Colombian Navy Finds Cocaine on Board Tanker

The Colombian Navy detained a tanker in Cartagena on Monday, February 23rd which was carrying 102 kilos of cocaine on board.

The drugs were found by divers, who were conducting an underwater inspection of the Cyprus-flagged PRISCO Alexandra. During the inspection, divers found a concealed compartment near the vessel’s rudder.

The compartment was concealing two stowaways of Colombian nationality together with 102 packages of white powder substance which turned out to be cocaine, the navy said.

The 50, 973-tonne vessel, built in 2008, was bound for Baton Rouge, United States.

The vessel remains moored in Cartagena based on the latest data from Marine Traffic.
