COOEC-Fluor’s scope of work for Seagreen 1 includes the fabrication and load-out of the suction caisson jackets.

The manufacturing work will be carried out at COOEC-Fluor’s fabrication yard in Zhuhai, China. COOEC-Fluor is a joint venture partnership between Offshore Oil Engineering Co., Ltd. (COOEC) and Fluor Corporation.

Fluor did not reveal the number of the jackets and the suction caissons COOEC-Fluor will deliver for the project.

“Fluor is committed to building a better world by providing renewable energy solutions to meet our clients’ needs,” said Mark Fields, president of Fluor’s energy and chemicals business.

“Through our joint venture COOEC-Fluor fabrication yard – one of the world’s largest – we will demonstrate Fluor’s commitment to sustainable development by working with Seaway 7 to successfully deliver the jackets and suction caissons for Scotland’s largest wind farm.”

Located over 27 kilometres off the Angus coast, the 1,075 MW Seagreen 1 comprises the Seagreen Alpha and Bravo offshore wind farms.

The project, planned to be operational in 2022/2023, will feature 114 MHI Vestas 10 MW wind turbines installed on jacket foundations.

Back in June, SSE Renewables announced the final investment decision (FID) for Seagreen 1, as well as the partnership on the project with the French energy company Total.

Around the same time, SSE Renewables awarded Subsea 7, the parent company of Seaway 7, with the contract for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) of the foundations and inter-array cables for the wind farm.

Seaway 7 has since selected the UAE-based Lamprell to manufacture and deliver 30 wind turbine jacket foundations for the project. China’s Jutal Offshore Oil Services will reportedly manufacture and deliver 50 sets of jackets for the project.

The foundations will be installed by Saipem.
