Croatia in Search of Investors for Shipbuilding Industry

Deputy Prime Minister Radimir Cacic stated last night that Croatia is seeking investors in the energy and shipbuilding industries in Russia, Bloomberg reports.

Cacic said he arranged to meet with the representatives of Russian energy companies Lukoil OAO (LKOH), Gazprom OAO (GAZP), and Zarubezhneft OAO, and shipbuilding officials in Moscow this week.

In a TV interview Deputy Prime Minister said; “We are open to a huge privatization story”. He also stated that the government is interested in selling Croatia’s biggest manufacturer of fertilizers and clay-based products, Petrokemija d.d.

After an unsuccessful tender for the state-owned facilities, the government of Croatia said it will seek solutions to save money-losing shipyards in the Adriatic ports of Rijeka and Trogir.
