Jacksonville-based Crowley Maritime said its two LNG-fueled ConRo ships, El Coquí and Taíno, have continued to take shape at the VT Halter Marine in Pascagoula, Mississippi.

In its brief social media update, Crowley said the workers have been painting the El Coqui, as the ships are constructed side by side.

The vessels will serve the U.S. Jones Act trade between Jacksonville, Florida, and San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The vessels are designed to travel at speeds up to 22 knots while maximizing the carriage of 53-foot, 102-inch-wide containers.

Cargo capacity will be approximately 2,400 TEUs, with additional space for nearly 400 vehicles in an enclosed Ro/Ro garage, according to Crowley’s website.
