Cruise Ship Stranded in Boston Harbor Resumes Voyage

A cruise ship that had been stranded in Boston Harbor since July 4th due to engine failure left the US port on Sunday and is en route to Halifax, Canada, according to local media.

The ms Maasdam, operated by Holland America Line, suffered mechanical issues with propulsion while departing the Boston Harbor on July 4.

The cruise ship also experienced a brief power failure soon after departing from the dock on Saturday evening.

The crews were dispatched to identify and fix the cause of the failure in the ship’s propulsion, and ms Maasdam was given an all-clear to sail out by the US Coast Guard and the ship’s classification society.

Due to the delays caused by the mechanical failures, a scheduled stop at Bar Harbor in Maine was cut from the itinerary, and the ship will head straight to Halifax.
