CWind Taiwan teams up with E&Y Electronics

CWind Taiwan has signed an exclusive cooperation agreement with E&Y Electronics, a Taiwanese power cable service provider specialised in cable testing and termination, to develop its cable maintenance services in the Taiwanese offshore wind market.

The services under the cooperation agreement include low and high voltage inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR) solutions, as well as subsea cable jointing and testing & terminations, which are part of CWind’s package called Complete Cable Care.

“Global Marine Group have an extensive track record in Europe delivering subsea power cable repair services. Our Complete Cable Care framework agreements have proactively supported many offshore wind farm owners to reduce their down time during unplanned cable outages and we’re working to transfer this successful experience into delivering similar cable repair solutions for Taiwanese offshore wind farms”, CWind Taiwan said.

CWind Taiwan has been active on offshore wind projects in Taiwan for more than a few years now, as the sector is gaining momentum.

In November 2020, the company reported that two new crew transfer vessels (CTVs) Phenom and Phoenix had commenced work on their first project in Taiwan, the Yunlin offshore wind farm, where they are supporting Siemens Gamesa during construction work.

In October last year, CWind Taiwan won a balance of plant (BOP) contract for inspection and maintenance services to the 22 turbines at both phases of the Formosa 1 offshore wind farm, the first in Taiwan to move into the operations and maintenance (O&M) phase. CWind Taiwan has been involved in the Formosa 1 project since 2016.
