Cygnus Passage LNG carrier hits its Sakhalin II milestone

Sakhalin Energy, the operator of Russia’s only LNG export plant, Sakhalin II said the Cygnus Passage carrier recently left the facility in Aniva Bay with a milestone cargo. 

With the latest cargo, the vessel with the capacity to transport 147,800 cubic meters of the chilled gas, has increased its overall offtake from the facility to 30 million cubic meters over a period of eight years.

Sakhalin Energy said in its statement the cargo will be delivered to a Japanese customer. Cygnus Passage is used to deliver the Sakhalin LNG to JERA and Tohoku Electric.

The vessel has been transporting liquefied natural gas from the project in Prigorodnoye and has transported over 240 cargoes since 2009.
