Damex Cuba Floats Out Third Damen Stan Lander 5612

Damex Shipbuilding & Engineering Cuba yesterday launched the third Damen Stan Lander 5612 cargo vessel, which was built under the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas (ALBA) trade agreement.

This 600-ton multi-purpose cargo vessel, designed by Ukraine-based Marine Design Engineering Mykolayiv, will be used by the Venezuelan Navy. Constructed for coastal or port service, the vessel can carry up to 42 containers or vehicles, thanks to a roll-on roll-off ramp at the bow.

According to the Cuban News Agency ACN, the agreement foresees the construction of a fourth multi-purpose cargo vessel.

Established in January 1995, Damex Shipbuilding & Engineering is a self-sustaining organisation where all the necessary shipbuilding skills are readily available. The company acts as a license holder and an after-sales service location for Damen Shipyards Holland. It holds certificates from classification societies such as Lloyd’s Register of Shipping and Bureau Veritas are available.
