d’Amico Splashes Two New Handysize Tankers

Shipping company d’Amico International Shipping S.A. launched two new 39,000 dwt Handysize eco product tankers today at the Vietnamese Hyundai Vinashin Shipyard Co. Ltd.

The tankers, named Cielo di Capri and Cielo di Hanoi, feature a length of 184 metres and a width of 27.4 metres.

These two eco-ships, which only differ in class as the first one is an Ice Class ship, are a part of the USD 755 million investment plan that DIS launched in 2012.

In mid-March, the company’s product tanker subsidiary d’Amico Tankers Limited said that it secured a USD 250 million term loan facility with a pool of nine primary financial institutions, and has thus secured 100% of its long-term debt requirements for the USD 755 million investment, plus all other debt refinancing needs.

The purpose of the latest loan was to refinance 7 existing vessels, all built between 2004 and 2006, extending their current debt maturity from 2017 to 2021, and providing financing for 6 newbuilding vessels.

“The first tranche of this facility will refinance 7 of our existing vessels…whilst the second tranche will complete the financing of our newbuilding plan and all remaining Capex,” Marco Fiori, Chief Executive Officer of d’Amico International Shipping, earlier said.
