Darwin LNG CO2 absorber replacement (VIDEO)

Darwin LNG export facility had its carbon dioxide (CO2) absorber replaced earlier in the year to extend the life of the 3.7 mtpa facility.

CO2 absorber plays an important role in the LNG production process by removing carbon dioxide from the incoming natural gas before it gets cooled down to its liquid state.

According to the operator, ConnocoPhillips, it was connected during a scheduled shutdown of the LNG facility in September.

Santos, holder of 11.5% stake in the project published a timelapse video of a heavy lift operation undertaken to replace the CO2 absorber.
