Delta Tankers to Add Newbuild Tanker Duo

Greek shipowner Delta Tankers has reached an agreement to purchase two Suezmax tanker newbuilds from the Germany-based Johann MK Blumenthal GmbH, according to VesselsValue.

The tankers, constructed by South Korea’s shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, are scheduled to be completed in June and July 2017, respectively.

Each featuring 160,000 dwt, the vessels were purchased for a price of USD 57.5 million a piece, VesselsValue data shows.

At 84,500 gross tons, the 274-meter-long tankers will be added to Delta Tankers’ fleet of 25 vessels, including seventeen Suezmaxes, six Aframaxes, one LR1 tanker and a very large crude carrier (VLCC).

World Maritime News contacted Delta Tankers for confirmation on the transaction, however, the company is yet to reply.
