Deltamarin to Take Part in Mols-Linien’s RoPax Ferry Design

Finnish ship designer Deltamarin is to provide its compatriot Rauma Marine Constructions (RMC) Oy shipyard with design services worth EUR 3 million (USD 3.3 million) for a RoPax vessel to be built for the Danish ferry operator Mols-Linien A/S.

The work will be carried out at Deltamarin’s offices in Finland and Poland over an estimated period of 12 months.

The new 158-meter RoPax vessel will be deployed on the route connecting the Danish islands of Bornholm and Zealand.

The vessel will have a cargo capacity of 1,500 lane meters. The construction of the new ferry is expected to start in spring 2017, with the ship entering the service in autumn 2018.

Earlier this year, RMC was awarded a contract to build the RoPax vessel for Mols-Linien, which marked the first shipbuilding order for this shipyard since its establishment in 2014. The order’s market value is around EUR 68 million (USD 77 million).
