Deltares: Stimulation of Exports to Canada Signed

Stimulation of Exports to Canada Signed

On Friday 7 September, the covenant ‘Partners for International Business Water and Soil Canada’ was signed by a number of Dutch companies and research institutes including Deltares.

The aim of this covenant is to stimulate the export of Dutch know-how, products and services in the field of soil decontamination, underground water management and water quality and to enhance market opportunities in these areas.

Over the past few years, the provinces of Ontario and Alberta have performed projects involving these specialist areas, with the Netherlands Soil Partnership (NSP) playing an important role. This network organisation of companies, research institutes and the government concentrates on stimulating export of soil management and area development projects.

The Netherlands has ample experience and knowledge of soil decontamination and underground water management. This can be put to good effect in Canada, in both urban and rural areas, and relates to legislative and regulatory matters as well as to technological development. In these fields the Netherlands leads the way; Dutch expertise is applied and sold all over the world. Deltares will use its know-how in soil decontamination technology and water quality to facilitate the development of new opportunities for Dutch companies active in Canada, together with governments, companies and universities.

The activities being developed around the covenant in Canada fit in well with the ‘Water as Top Sector’ theme. In addition to Deltares, the participants are BoskalisDolman, Groundwater Technology, Tauw, Wageningen University, Damen Dredging, Netherlands Water Partnership, and Water Insight. The number of participants will probably increase further.
