The newbuild is the last in a series of four tankers ordered from the Besiktas Shipyard, located in Yalova near Istanbul, Turkey.

The 15,000 dwt Rossi A. Desgagnés joins M/T Gaïa Desgagnés acquired in late April 2019 by the company.

As explained, these vessels are part of the major renewal plan for the company’s tanker fleet.

Desgagnés now owns five dual-fuel/LNG tankers, focusing on safety, environmental protection and sustainability.

With a length of 135 meters and a width of 23.5 meters, Rossi A. Desgagnés is double-hulled and holds a Polar 7 ice class, confirming its capacity to navigate in ice-laden waters. At 7.8 meters draft, the ship’s cargo tanks can hold up to 17,505 cbm at 98% capacity.

The company said that Rossi A. Desgagnés represents an investment exceeding CAD 50 million (around USD 37 million), of which almost CAD 9 million are solely dedicated to the dual-fuel/LNG motorization.

Rossi A. Desgagnés will soon be leaving Turkey and is expected in Canada in mid-June.

Desgagnés currently owns and operates a fleet of over 20 vessels, with more than 350,000 tons deadweight, or a total capacity exceeding 435,000 cbm.
