Det Norske Hires Prosafe's Accommodation Rig for Ivar Aasen

Norwegian oil company Det norske oljeselskap ASA  has hired Prosafe’s  Safe Scandinavia accommodation rig on a six months contract scheduled to start in June 2016.

The Safe Scandinavia will be deployed at the Ivar Aasen Development Project in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea as a support during the commissioning of the platform.

Upon expiration of the firm contract, valued at USD 65 million, Det Norske will have four additional one-month options for the semi-submersible facility.

The Ivar Aasen project is situated west of the Johan Sverdrup-field in the North Sea, containing approximately 150 million barrels of oil equivalents. First oil is expected in the fourth quarter of 2016.  Total investments in the project are estimated at USD 4.1 billion.
