Det Norske: Oil Presence Confirmed at Espever High (Norway)

Det norske oljeselskap ASA today announced that core samples confirmed oil presence in appraisal well 16/2-14 (PL 265), in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

The well is being drilled with Ocean Vanguard rig on the Espever High, which is part of the Johan Sverdrup field.

“Drilling operations in the reservoir section is in an initial phase. Final results are thus not yet available,” said Det Norske in a press release.

Det Norske CEO Erik Haugane told Reuters today that more information on the operations would be available in one week.

Statoil-operated Johan Sverdrup field is considered to be one of the largest discoveries on the Norwegian continental shelf since the mid 1980s.

Det Norske holds 20% interest in PL265. Partners are Statoil Petroleum AS (operator) with 40% interest, Petoro (30%) and Lundin Petroleum (10%)
