Diana Containerships Nabs Charter Deal from OOCL
Greek shipping firm Diana Containerships is planning to reactivate its 6,541 TEU container vessel MV Pucon as it secured a time charter deal for the vessel.
The company said that the Post-Panamax containership would be chartered out to Hong Kong-based shipping company Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL).
Under the deal signed between the parties, the 2006-built Pucon would be deployed under a gross charter rate of USD 10,750 per day for a period of 12 to 14 months.
Scheduled to start working for OOCL on April 27, 2017, the boxship is expected to generate around USD 3.87 million of gross revenue for the minimum scheduled period of the time charter.
In mid-February, Diana said that its full-year 2016 net loss widened to USD 149 million from a net loss of USD 17.5 million seen in 2015.
The loss for 2016 includes USD 118.9 million of impairment charges for seven of the company’s vessels and USD 2.9 million of direct sale and other charges for two ships.
The company’s fourth quarter net loss stood at USD 8.5 million, against a net loss of USD 8.8 million seen in the same period a year earlier.
Diana’s fleet currently consists of twelve container vessels, including six Post-Panamax and six Panamax boxships.
