Diana Shipping Sells Panamax Bulker

Greek shipowner Diana Shipping has entered into a Memorandum of Agreement to sell the 2004-built Panamax bulker Thetis to an undisclosed buyer.

The 40,160 GT vessel is being sold for USD 6.4 million with the delivery set to take place by July 31.

After the sale of the Chinese-built vessel, the bulker owner’s fleet will consist of 44 dry bulk vessels, comprising 4 Newcastlemax, 14 Capesize, 5 Post-Panamax, 5 Kamsarmax and 16 Panamax.

According to Diana Shipping, the current combined carrying capacity of the company’s fleet, including the Thetis, is approximately 5.5 million dwt with a weighted average age of 9.27 years.

With the sale of Thetis, the number of vessels sold by the company this year rose to four. Previously sold bulkers include the 2001-built Danae and Dione, whose sale was announced in February, and the 2004-built Erato, which was sold in April.
