DMCA Hosts Delegation from Republic of Malta

Dubai Maritime City Authority (DMCA) recently received an official delegation from the Republic of Malta.

The trade delegation, which composed of representatives from the Malta Freeport Corporation, received a briefing on Dubai’s maritime strategy and the key business opportunities present in the emirate today. The Maltese contingent praised the efforts of the DMCA in its successful efforts to enhance Dubai’s position in the global and regional maritime industry.

During their visit, DMCA briefed the delegation on the key features offered by the Dubai maritime strategy, which is focused on the authority’s development and promotion of programs and initiatives that aims to create a safe and secured maritime industry—playing a significant role in the country’s economic development and consolidating Dubai’s position as a global maritime hub. The Maltese group was also briefed on the Dubai Maritime City project, a first of its kind specialized maritime centre that is expected to drive in more economic growth for Dubai, in particular and the UAE in general.

DMC’s vision aims at providing an integrated environment that combines essential components of a business community and lifestyle across six strategic sectors, which includes administrative, commercial, industrial, academic, residential and recreational aspects. The vision looks towards highlighting world-class services available to international maritime companies–encouraging them to take advantage of investment opportunities that are made even more attractive with the presence of advanced infrastructure, logistical support and unprecedented investment facilities.

In response, Aaron Faroggia, CEO, Malta Freeport Corporation, gave a presentation on many investment opportunities that Malta currently offers, particularly in infrastructure and logistics. This was followed by a meeting where both parties discussed potential joint undertaking between Dubai and Malta.

Ali added: “The joint meeting represents a perfect opportunity to highlight the various aspects of our maritime sector strategy and the important investment opportunities enjoyed by the emirate in the maritime sector. We also shared with them the current status of our Dubai Maritime City project, which is considered as one of the most distinctive features of the local Maritime scene and is a quality initiative aimed to increase the contributions of the maritime sector to the UAE’s gross domestic product. We are looking forward to holding joint meetings with the leaders of the global maritime industry—sharing our best practices and strengthen our efforts to become a leading international maritime centre.”
