DNO starts drilling in Sfax permit off Tunisia

DNO ASA, the Norwegian oil and gas operator, has announced the start of drilling of the Jawhara-3 well inthe Sfax Offshore Exploration Permit in the Republic of Tunisia.

The Jawhara-3 is the first of several exploration and appraisal wells planned in the permit. The well will be drilled four kilometers north of the Jawhara-1 discovery well, which flowed 1,500 barrels of oil per day, and will test the Douleb and Bireno reservoirs in the up dip Jawhara structure. A second exploration well will follow in the first half of 2015.

In 2013, DNO International ASA entered into a farm-out agreement with respect of the Sfax Offshore Exploration Permit and the Ras El Besh Concession in the Republic of Tunisia.

The Sfax Offshore Exploration Permit and the Ras El Besh Concession are located in the prolific Gulf of Gabes and cover 3,296 square kilometers, mostly offshore in shallow waters.

The Tunisia Sfax license and Ras El Besh Concession consist of exploration and development opportunities. To date, three discoveries have been made and according to the company, these assets also offer significant exploration potential.
