DNR to Discuss Two Rivers Harbor Project

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has scheduled a public meeting to discuss the proposed disposal of dredged material from the Two Rivers outer harbor federal navigational channel.

The meeting will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, October 15, on the third floor at Two Rivers City Hall.

The City has proposed to dredge within the outer harbor federal navigational channel. The dredging will improve access to the harbor for both commercial and charter fishing vessels and will improve navigation generally.

The city has requested DNR grant an exemption from solid waste regulations so that approximately 22,000 cubic yards of dredged material can be disposed of on city property located east of Mirro Drive and south of Hawthorne Avenue.

DNR staff has made a preliminary determination that the proposed action would not result in significant adverse environmental effects.

The purpose of the meeting is to solicit public comment on the proposal. There will be a brief introduction and explanation of the project by DNR and town representatives. The meeting will then be opened up for questions and comments.
