DONG Energy Awarded Two Operatorships in Norway

DONG Energy’s Norwegian oil and gas business reports that they have been awarded two new licenses as operator in the 2013 Award in Predefined Areas (APA) in Norway.

“We are very excited about the two licenses that we have been awarded. The licenses are situated in areas in which we are already active – in the North Sea as a significant producing oil company and in the Barents Sea, where we explore and which I see as a natural addition to our producing family in the future,” says Philip Johannes Lafeber, Managing Director for DONG Energy in Norway, DONG E&P Norge.

On the upcoming work programme Philip Johannes Lafeber says:

“We have prepared acquisition plans for new 3D seismic for the North Sea licence to get more information on the sub-structure and improve understanding of the license. We hope to collect the seismic data this summer. Subsequently, the data will be analysed to give us more information about the area. If the area still looks promising, we look forward to be drilling exploration wells in a few years’ time.”

DONG Energy’s new Barents Sea license is an additional area next to the Gram licence and has therefore been given the working title Milligram. A potential discovery will most probably be an oil discovery. DONG Energy (50%) is operator, while Repsol holds the other half.

The new North Sea license comprises four blocks and here, a potential discovery will most probably be a gas discovery. The license has been given the work title Turtles. DONG Energy (45%) is operator and Maersk Oil (35%) and Petoro (20%) are partners.
