DOS Vessel Locates Wreckage of EgyptAir Flight 804

Egyptian Aircraft Accident Investigation Committee has confirmed the discovery of several main locations of the wreckage of EgyptAir Flight 804, which crashed into the Mediterranean Sea last month.

Survey vessel ‘John Lethbridge’, contracted by the Egyptian government to join the search, has identified the locations and provided the investigation committee with first images of the wreckage.

Based on the wreckage locations, the search team and investigators onboard of the vessel will draw a map for the wreckage distribution spots. A meeting was held in order to plan how to best handle the wreckage in the coming period, investigators said.

The Deep Ocean Search-operated vessel joined the opertion after the French Navy vessel ‘La Place’ earlier this month detected underwater signals assumed to be from one of the data recorders.

The Airbus A320 crashed in the Mediterranean on May 19 on a flight from Paris to Cairo with 66 people aboard.
