DSME bags LNG carrier order

Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering of South Korea said it has received an order for a new LNG carrier from a ship management specialist Chandris of Greece. 

The ship that will be delivered in the second half of 2018 will be built at DSME’s Okpo shipyard and have the capacity to transport 173,400 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas, the company said in a statement.

DSME added that the LNG carrier will feature ME-GI propulsion. With this order, DSME has won 29 orders for LNG carriers equipped with ME-GI engines.

Financial terms of the contract were not revealed.
