Edda Ferd PSV Wins OSJ Environmental Award

Norwegian shipowner Østensjø Rederi AS has won Offshore Support Journal’s Environmental Award 2013 for its platform supply vessel Edda Ferd.

The Environmental Award is awarded to a company, project or product that has made a significant contribution to a reduction in the environmental footprint of the OSV industry.

“The company is, of course, hounoured by this acknowledgement from our peers in the offshore support industry, and would like to thank all those who voted for the Edda Ferd. For all of us at Østensjø this gives us further encouragement to carry on, developing the best offshore vessels and services in the world,” said Østensjø Rederi AS in a statement.

Edda Ferd, of Skipsteknisk’s ST-920 design, will, once delivered, be the most environmentally friendly PSV in the world.

The vessel is under construction at Astilleros Gondan in Spain, and will be delivered in October 2013.

Last year’s winner was Solstad Offshore, a Norwegian company which received the award for its Green Operations initiative.
