EGAS awards second LNG tender

Egyptian Natural Gas Holding Company selected seven winners of the second LNG supply tender among 12 bidders.

EGAS’ chairman Khaled Abdel Badie confirmed in his report to Egypt’s minister of petroleum and mineral resource, Tariq Al-Mullah,  the company selected seven companies to deliver 55 cargoes of LNG, 10 more than originally sought for, starting next month through December 2016.

Cargoes will be delivered to Egypt’s second FSRU to be moored in Ain Sokhna Port. The FSRU BW Singapore is supplied by the Singapore-based BW and has a storage capacity in excess of 170,000 cbm and a peak regasification capacity of 750 mmscfd.

Abdel Badie added that the FSRU Singapore, which arrived in Ain Sokhna will start commissioning tests at the end of this month.

Four or five cargoes will be delivered monthly with an amount of 170,000 cbm of LNG per shipment.

Even though Abdel Badie did not confirm the names of the winners, Reuters revealed that seven companies that were invited for talks recently include Trafigura, Vitol, Noble Group, EDF Trading, Gas Natural, PetroChina and Shell.
