Egypt to import six LNG cargoes from Algeria

Sherif Ismail, Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources held talks with Youcef Yousfi, Minister of Energy and Mines of Algeria and discussed importing liquefied natural gas from Algeria.

Ministers followed up on a previous agreement reached between EGAS and Sonatrach to supply 6 shipments of Algerian LNG in the period between April and September 2015.

They scheduled a meeting in Algeria by the end of this month to finalize the agreement. In addition, Egypt is looking to utilize Algerian experience in the shale gas upstream domain.

Earlier in November, EGAS signed a five-year time charter party contract with Höegh LNG of Egypt for the FSRU Höegh Gallant that will start to serve as Egypt’s LNG import terminal by the end of the first quarter 2015.
