Contract with Shell’s JV marks Strohm’s entry into Egypt

Dutch manufacturer of thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP), Strohm, has secured its first contract in Egypt, with Burullus Gas Company, a joint venture (JV) between EGAS, Shell and Petronas.

Strohm will supply a 2,000-meter flowline for one of the West Delta Deep Marine (WDDM) projects offshore Egypt, operated by Burullus Gas Company.

According to the Dutch player, the carbon fibre and PA12 polymer TCP flowline has a design pressure of 5,000 psi and is qualified to the DNV-ST-F119 standard.

Oceaneering will install the flowline at a water depth of almost 600 meters using the horizontal lay method, replacing an existing steel one. It will be the first TCP solution of this type utilized in the region, Strohm said.

The WDDM concession is located approximately 90 kilometers offshore Egypt, on the north-western part of the Nile Delta. It includes 17 gas fields at water depths ranging from 300 to 1,200 meters.
