Electrical substation on its way to Wheatstone LNG

Western Australia’s Freemantle Ports informed that the large electrical substation has been dispatched to Chevron’s Wheatsone LNG project site.

The Pacific Battler is towing a huge barge over a distance of more than a thousand sea miles to Western Australia’s Pilbara region, stands in the Freemantle Ports statement.

Pacific Battler is a 2100t ocean-going tug, 60m long, with 12,000t brake horsepower, a bollard pull of 150t and a winch pull of 300t.

The Wheatstone project, that includes two LNG trains with a combined capacity of 8.9 mtpa plus a 200 terajoule per day domestic gas plant, located 12 kilometres west of Onslow, is close to being 50% complete.

Offshore facilities for the liquefaction project include Australia’s largest offshore gas processing platform, with a 225 kilometre trunkline connecting it to the onshore plant.
