Enagas pushing for LNG logistics services at its terminals

In order to satisfy the growing demand of international markets for LNG logistics services, Enagás is promoting the regulatory provisions which enable terminals to be used as logistics centres.

The Law 18/2014 is an important move as a unique, temporary economic framework may be established to provide LNG logistics services. Under this regulatory framework, Enagás shall promote and explore various opportunities with those shippers interested in these services. Enagás shall also undertake the necessary investments to be able to offer these services.

Earlier in October, Enagás presented the proposed upgrades designed to change over its traditional LNG terminal in Barcelona to a multimodal one  so as to offer new LNG logistics services.

Claudio Rodriguez Suarez, General Manager of Infrastructures, explained the reasons behind this refurbishment, as well as the investment and changes made. The Barcelona plant is Europe’s oldest working terminal.

Enagás plans to increase the reloading ratio by 77% and reach 0 emissions by 2018. The company plans to improve the bunkering services at the Barcelona LNG terminal as well as adding truck loading facilities to all of its existing terminals. It is also currently studying the possibility of adding railroad loading facilities and connection.
