ENGIE Pens LNG Import Deal with EGAS

French utility company ENGIE and the Egyptian national company EGAS, have executed a cooperation agreement on LNG importation to Egypt during the state visit of French President François Hollande to Egypt.

Pursuant to the agreement, signed under the auspices of the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, ENGIE said it would contribute to supplying Egypt’s gas market, but the company did not disclosed any further details on the value of the deal.

On the occasion, ENGIE has also signed a cooperation agreement for further development of renewable energy with the National Renewable Energy Association (NREA) and the Egyptian Electricity Transport Company (EETC). 

A total of 21 agreements have been signed between Egyptian and French businessmen during the visit in the fields of electricity, trade, industry, transport, professional training and maritime transport, according to Egypt’s Maritime Transport Sector’s (MTS) data.
