Eni CEO meets President of Mozambique

The President of the Republic of Mozambique, Filipe Nyusi, for the first time since his appointment last January, met today, May 6, 2015, in Maputo with Eni’s CEO Claudio Descalzi.

The meeting was also an opportunity for Eni’s CEO to update the President on the progress of ongoing projects in Mozambique over the development of the Area 4, where resources of approximately 85 Trillion cubic feet of gas in place have been so far discovered.

Recently, in his IHS CERAWeek keynote address in Houston, Descalzi said that Eni’s massive gas discoveries in Mozambique, once developed, will be able to meet a hundred percent of Italy’s gas needs for a period of thirty years.

Eni has been present in Mozambique since 2006, when, following an international tender, the company was granted Area 4 offshore block located in the Rovuma basin in the north of the country.
