Eni inks natural gas pact with Fincantieri

Italian company Eni has signed a cooperation agreement with compatriot shipbuilder Fincantieri for the development of natural gas power systems.

Eni said on Monday that it signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Fincantieri establishing a research and development partnership.

According to the company, it will include the possibility to carry out studies on energy projects related to natural gas.

The agreement covers a wide range of potential partnerships including the exploitation of gas resources, study of initiatives related to the natural gas transport chain, and LNG.

The partnership also aims to develop projects regarding floating platforms for offshore production and the evaluation of energy projects with a low environmental impact.

Eni added that the MoU was part of the company’s strategy to tackle climate change, promote sustainable development, and support the use of gas for transport.

The oil company noted that the collaboration underlines the company’s commitment to minimizing CO2 emissions, particularly in the naval sector.
