EnQuest: Alma/Galia oil coming up in few weeks

EnQuest, an independent UK-based oil and gas company, has informed that first oil from its Alma/Galia development, located in the UK North Sea, is anticipated within a few weeks.

EnQuest sanctioned the project development in November 2011.

The Alma and Galia fields, tied back to the EnQuest Producer floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO), are located at a water depth of approximately 80 meters.

EnQuest CEO, Amjad Bseisu, said on Wednesday in the 2015 Half Year Results report: “Our two major developments are progressing well and we expect first oil from Alma/Galia within a few weeks.”

To remind, in H1 2015, the FPSO vessel left the yard in Newcastle, completed marine performance trials and was towed out to the field, where it was moored. It was first made ‘storm safe’ and then all the remaining anchor chains were installed. All the risers were then pulled in and the ship was able to weathervane. The subsea equipment was tested from the vessel via the umbilicals. Commissioning of first oil systems is nearing completion and first oil is anticipated within a few weeks. The Galia production well has also been completed and tied into the production manifold.

According to EnQuest, six wells are available to be brought onstream in H2 in a phased sequence. Power systems will also be ramped up in a phased manner through Q3/Q4 and the company anticipates the need for a planned field shutdown to complete commissioning of the steam turbine generators.

The company emphasized that optimised production should be achieved before the end of the year and completion of the water injector WI1 is scheduled in Q3.

In addition, EnQuest said that its average production guidance for the full year 2015 is maintained between 33,000 Boepd and 36,000 Boepd, with the second half of the year reflecting production from Alma/Galia and also increased production from GKA and Thistle/Deveron in particular.
