Erik Thun Takes Delivery of Third 18,000 Dwt LNG-Fueled Tanker

Swedish Erik Thun Group has taken delivery of M/V Thun Venern, a product/chemical tanker newbuilding.

The 17,999 dwt ship was handed over to the company at China’s AVIC Dingheng Shipbuilding on September 27 after completing sea trials in August this year.

Thun Venern is the third vessel being delivered in a series of six 18,000 dwt dual fueled tankers ordered by Thun Tankers together with the alliance partners Furetank Rederi AB and Rederi AB Älvtank.

The design was developed by FKAB together with Furetank Rederi AB and special attention was paid on minimal impact on the environment, with close to 50% reduction of CO2 emissions. This also includes full Tier III, dual fuel/LNG propulsion including LNG in port consumption, LNG for IG-boiler, battery backup (UPS) for all vital functions and special ballast water cleaning system and Ice class 1A.

Featuring a length of 149.9 meters and a width of 22.8 meters, the ship has a capacity of 19,900 cbm.

It will be commercially managed by Furetank Chartering, which is part of the Gothia Tanker Alliance.
