ESPO Award: Ten Ports Shortlisted

ESPO Award, Ten Ports Shortlisted

Antwerp, Bremenports, Cartagena, Dover, Genoa, Marseilles, Piraeus, Rotterdam, Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Venice – these are the ten port authorities that were shortlisted for the 4th edition of the ESPO Award on Societal Integration of Ports.

The jury selected these applications from a total of 23 submissions. The theme of this year’s competition is ‘youth’, aiming to promote projects that make future generations of employees, neighbours and other stakeholders aware of what the port sector has to offer.

“We were impressed about the great variety of creative ideas that came forward,” said jury chairman John Richardson, “and we had the usual difficulty in distinguishing between broad comprehensive projects and more specific ones.

The winner of the fourth ESPO Award will be announced on 7 November, during the traditional ceremony that will be held at the Town Hall of Brussels.

The ESPO Award was established in 2009 to promote innovative projects of port authorities that improve societal integration of ports, especially with the city or wider community in which they are located. In this way, the Award wants to stimulate the sustainable development of European ports and their cities.
