Esvagt vessel wins North Sea extension

Vessel provider Esvagt will continue to provide guard vessel duty and standby preparedness on the Yme field located in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

Repsol Norway has chosen to extend its contract with the Esvagt Corona vessel to the end of August 2019, Esvagt announced on Monday.

By then, the 2004-built ERRV Esvagt Corona will have been in service on the Yme field for five years, the vessel owner stated.

Ib Hansen, Head of Commercial for Esvagt, said: “We are pleased that the Yme field will continue to be in production and that we have been entrusted with the responsibility of being partner again.”

The Yme field is located in the south-eastern section of the North Sea in 77-93 meters of water.

Following submission of a revised plan for development and operation (PDO) of the Yme field to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy last December, Repsol is now working on the Yme field redevelopment.

The revised PDO is based on re-use of existing facilities that were installed on the field during the development in 2007 to the extent possible, a new wellhead module on top of the existing caisson and the lease of a mobile offshore drilling and production unit.

In addition, the existing storage tank, caisson, pipelines, subsea templates and offloading system will be reused. Furthermore, all existing wells will be used and further wells will be drilled.

It is also worth mentioning that Repsol was recently given a safety consent to use the Rowan Stavanger jack-up rig to support the work on the Yme field development. The drilling operation will begin in September 2018.
