EWC to fire up LNG power plant in three months

Energy World Corporation is about to open doors for LNG imports into Philippines by commencing generation of 200 MW from its LNG-fired power plant.

According to the company’s CEO Stewart W. G. Elliot, EWC expects to start up generating power by the second quarter. He told Reuters that the company is planning to probably add the second 200 MW three months after the start up of the initial 200 MW power plant.

He said that the company does not have a definite deadline for the startup of the 650 MW combined-cycle power plant, but it is working to put the plant into operation as soon as possible.

The power plant is a part of EWC’s Pagbilao LNG hub currently under construction. Elliot revealed that the company plans to build up to 3,000 MW of LNG-fired power capacity in the Philippines, in the coming years.
