Excelerate Energy cancels FLSO order at SHI

Excelerate Energy has canceled its order for the US$2 billion floating liquefaction storage and offloading unit at Samsung Heavy Industries.

In a filing to the stock exchange, SHI informed that the partner in the FLNG project offshore Equatorial Guinea, decided not to proceed with the order due to changes in the Equatorial Guinea LNG project.

Excelerate Energy signed an agreement with the Government of Equatorial Guinea and Ophir Energy for the provision of an FLSO vessel for the Fortuna FLNG project located at block R, Equatorial Guinea in November 2014.

In May this year, Ophir Energy appointed Golar LNG as its midstream partner for the Fortuna FLNG project. Under the new agreement, Golar will build, operate and maintain the floating liquefaction and storage vessel and facilities at the Fortuna FLNG. The vessel to be used will be Golar’s Gimi FLNG vessel.

Upon signing the deal with Golar LNG, Ophir said its previous agreement with Excelerate Energy has been terminated by mutual agreement.
