Farstad: 3 new contracts, 3 extensions, 1 cancellation

Farstad Shipping, a Norwegian company chartering offshore vessels to oil companies, has today announced a number of charter extensions and new contracts.

Esso Australia, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil, has declared options on platform supply vessel (PSV) Far Supplier to extend the contract for 3 years. The contract starts in direct continuation from current firm contract.

The anchor handler (AHTS) Far Sirius has had its first 6 month option period exercised by Australia’s Woodside Energy Ltd. This will make the vessel firm until August 2016, with a further 2 x 6 month options still remaining. The PSV Lady Grace has been extended by Woodside Energy Ltd. for up to 240 days.

Furthermore, Woodside Energy Ltd. has also awarded contracts to PSV Far Starling, PSV Far Skimmer and PSV Far Spirit to support their campaigns offshore Korea and Myanmar. The vessels have secured employment until January 2016. The commercial terms are confidential between the parties, Farstad said.

Elsewhere, in Brazil, Petrobras has notified Farstad Shipping that they intend to cancel the contract for PSV Far Strider. Cancellation is expected to take place mid November.
