FERC approves Downeast LNG pre-filing request

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the pre-filing process for Downeast LNG import-export project.

Downeast is planning to convert its proposed import terminal and sendout pipeline (Downeast LNG import project) into a bidirectional import-export LNG terminal and pipeline. The planned project would consist of a natural gas pretreatment facility and liquefaction facilities which could process approximately 450 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas and export approximately 3 million metric tonnes per annum.

FERC stated in a letter that it “will evaluate the progress made during the pre-filing process,” once Downeast files its planned application in January 2015.

“Once we determine that your application is ready for processing, we will establish a schedule for completion of the environmental document and for the issuance of all other federal 20140811-3037 FERC PDF (Unofficial) 08/11/2014- 2 -authorizations. The environmental document will supplement the final Environmental Impact Statement issued May 15, 2014 for the Downeast LNG Import Project,” stands in the letter.
