FERC approves Rio Grande LNG pre-filing request

The United States Federal Energy Regulatory Commission issued an order approving Rio Grande LNG’s request for FERC to initiate the pre-filing environmental review of the Rio Grande LNG project.

Rio Grande LNG, a NextDecade unit, plans to construct a natural gas liquefaction facility in Cameron County, Texas along the north embankment of the Brownsville ship channel, with a capacity of about 3.6 billion cubic feet per day of natural gas for export overseas.

FERC informed in its notice that it has selected Edge Engineering and Science as the third-party contractor to assist the commission in preparing the National Environmental Policy Act documentation.

Rio Grande LNG intends to file its application no later than January 2016.
