FERC issues EA for Cameron LNG’s trains 4 and 5

The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently issued the environmental assessment report for Cameron LNG’s proposed liquefaction trains 4 and 5 at its terminal under construction in Hackberry, Louisiana.

In its filing, FERC informed that the approval of the two additional liquefaction trains “would not constitute a major federal action significantly affecting the quality of the human environment.”

Cameron LNG intends to build two more liquefaction trains each with a production capacity close to 5 mtpa increasing the terminal’s total production capacity from 14.96 mtpa to 24.92 mtpa. It also intends to add a fifth LNG storage tank capable of holding 160,000 cubic meters.

Proposed facilities would be constructed within the current LNG terminal property and will replicate the design of liquefaction trains 1, 2 and 3 currently under construction and would not require any additional marine facilities.

Cameron LNG also informed that there would also be no increase in ship traffic.

Construction of the fourth and fifth liquefaction train is expected to begin in June 2016 with operations set to start before the end of 2019.
